Litter A - week 1
March 21/22
Jessie had a emergency c section last night. Two girls but one is 1/3 of the other. Don't know if she is going to make it, chances are slim, but she is a fighter for sure. I tube feed her, so hardly any sleep. Jessie is doing better but still has to figure out what to do with something that is constantly needing milk🤣 they are both beautiful and i really hope 'Ieniemienie' will make it💪🍀

March 23
Last night we said goodbye to our little Ieniemienie. During the day she already showed she was having a hard time. She became quieter and harder to tube feed. And when I came to see how she was doing she just passed to the other side of the rainbow bridge. Having to deal with life and death like this is also part of breeding, but I wished I could have saved this little one, she was perfect🩷💔.

March 25 Day 4
Pup is gaining wait, almost 100 grams since birth which was then 240 grams. On average a pup should be twice its weight when one week old so we are heading in the right direction🧡. We also started with ENS and ESI yesterday. For ESI I chose nutmeg as smell. And it was really funny to see that while pup was struggling to get out of my grip, the moment I held the nutmeg under her nose, her nose went up and started to sniff in the air. She stopped with struggling and was only concentrating on the smell. The perfect reaction!
I made a movie of it all and will put this here later.
Jessie is doing well. She is a wonderful mama, taking very good care of her pup. She even wants to cut her playtime with ball short because she wants to be with her pup. Well that's a first LOL.
She is still not eating as much as she used to, which is never much, so I bought some puppy canned food which she likes and eats. And Jessies wounds have to heal still, so that takes next to feeding the pup, most of her energy.

March 26, day 5
And again Jessies baby is gaining weight. We are very very pleased. Today I wrote a blog about raising a solo pup (singleton) and the challenges this pertains. We already put some exercises in to place, as you can read in the blog.
Puppy also has a name which was given by her new family: Venture as short of Adventure. And because I really love this name and it's perfect, also for her pedigree name, I decided to (pedigree) name her

Today March 28, one week old
Jessie and pup are doing great. It's only one week ago that she was born. So small and weighting only 240 gram, and now she weighs more than twice this amount, 521 grams.
She is over 10 inch long.
She eats and sleeps good, Mama Jessie is having enough milk. When Jessie comes back from her walk or play, first thing she does is looking for her baby. She cleans, gives milk and keeps her puppy warm. I am very pleased with how naturally she picked up motherhood.
Daily I have been giving her (light) massage and try to stimulate the pup to crawl, I have performed ENS and ESI and a couple of times a day played the annoying litter mate and put her on another nipple during drinking. With Jessie licking her rigorous, she gets enough 'bumpy' experiences.
