You may become their forever family, but I will always be the one who first whispered,
'Welcome to the world.' Please let me watch their journey through your eyes, so I can keep loving them from afar. |

Like dragonflies rising from quiet waters, this new generation begins its journey. Guided by instinct, grace, and loyal hearts, these puppies will grow into companions who move through the world with intelligence and purpose.

This White Swiss Shepherd litter is with our super sweet Jane and show winning, very social and handsome stud Plavi. He is owned by the breeder of Jane. His pedigree (link) is a wonderful match with Jane's. The puppies of this litter will be medium and long coated.

September 14-16, 2026: A few days, a lot of miles, and so many puppy kisses. 💛🐾
Mama Jane, Granddad Mojo and I went on a little road trip to visit Jace, Nadya and Ginny (Dragonfly Litter) — and we also stopped to see Venture, the very first puppy I ever bred. Seeing them happy, loved and completely at home with their families made every mile worth it. And yes… saying goodbye again was still the hardest part. 💕
Different homes, same Sunnyside family.
For more about this trip go to the blog and/or the video.

Ginny: Week 9 to 5 months old:
My beautiful Ginny 💜 (Dearest Secret Opaline Of Sunnyside FWF) is living her best life with Elisa and Daniel. She can still be a little shy around strangers, but she loves going on adventures with her humans. Her leash walking is getting better and better, and when it comes to puzzles… well, Ginny seems to solve them in the blink of an eye, leaving her humans wondering how one little puppy can be quite so smart! 💜

Luna: Week 9 to 5 months old:
My 'little' Luna 🧡 (DejaVu I Know You Of Sunnyside FWF) is living her best life with Omid in beautiful Savannah, GA. She is his pride and joy and regularly makes him laugh with her silly antics. Luna loves her sniff walks and likes to watch and take everything in before deciding it’s time to play. She has also made her first dog friend — a Great Pyrenees! And our 'little' Luna isn't so little anymore. She is turning out to be just the right size, and with those beautiful dark eyes, she has grown into quite the beauty! 🧡

Jace: Week 9 to 5 months old:
My handsome Jace 🩵 (Don Juan I Kid You Not Of Sunnyside FWF) is living his best life with Tim and his family near the ocean. He still loves putting those very sharp puppy teeth to good use, and his human dad is starting to wonder if Jace might actually be double-jointed. 😂 But underneath all those teeth and bendy body parts is a total sweetheart who also happens to be very good at napping. And did I mention… he is soooo handsome?! 🩵

Nadya: Week 9 to 5 months old:
My sweet Nadya 🩷 (DoubleUp Wynter Spirit Of Sunnyside FWF) is living her best life with Jennifer and the pack — including her ‘oma’ Anya, her great-granddad and, of course, her daddy Plavi. She is completely smitten with her dad, and he with her… although Plavi doesn’t always seem quite convinced that he needs that much attention from his beautiful girl. 😂 Nadya, however, appears to think otherwise! 🩷

June 13, 2026 Dragonfly Litter are all to their new homes now (9 weeks old)
This morning, Ginny (Virginia), our little Miss Purple, became the last puppy to leave Sunnyside. She has joined a wonderful couple in Northern Virginia, where we're sure she'll live her very best life.
The house is quiet now... almost too quiet. We already miss all of our little rascals.

Saying Goodbye
The first to leave was our handsome boy, Jace (Mr. Aqua), on Friday, June 5, at eight weeks old. His family picked him up that morning, and he now calls Suffolk, Virginia, home. We wish him a lifetime filled with love, adventure, and happiness.

That Sunday, Miss Pink, Nadya, left with Matt, the husband of Jennifer—the breeder and owner of Plavi, the proud father of this litter. Nadya now lives in Virginia surrounded by family: her daddy Plavi, her grandmother, and even her great-grandfather. From all the updates we've received, she is absolutely thriving, especially because she can't get enough of her beloved dad. We wish her every happiness in her wonderful new life.
A few days later it was just the two girls. During those extra days we had lots of fun together. We played with the garden hose, splashed in the water, continued our daily walks, practiced sitting politely before meals, and worked on simple cues like "Look" and "Find."
Then it was Luna's turn.
Before taking Luna home, her new owner stayed overnight with us at Sunnyside. It gave us the opportunity to get to know each other even better, and we truly enjoyed our time together. As an unexpected surprise, he brought us a wonderful basket filled with delicious treats from his home state of Georgia—a thoughtful gift that we greatly appreciated.
The following day, Luna began her journey to Georgia, where she will undoubtedly live her very best life. We wish her endless love, happiness, and many wonderful adventures.

With Luna gone, the house suddenly felt incredibly empty. No one noticed that more than little Ginny. Losing her last playmate was a difficult adjustment, and she clearly missed having another puppy by her side.
Then, on Saturday morning, it was finally Ginny's turn.
Just like Luna's new owner, Ginny's family spent the night at Sunnyside before taking her home. It was a wonderful opportunity to share stories, answer questions, and make sure everyone felt comfortable before this big step.

And then, just like that, the Dragonfly litter had officially flown from the nest. We miss them more than words can describe. Yes, it was nine weeks of hard work, interrupted sleep, endless cleaning, and constant attention. But it was worth every single moment. Watching these little personalities develop, learning what each puppy loved, what challenged them, discovering their routines, and building a relationship with every one of them has been an incredible privilege. I even miss hearing their little cries.
Mama Jane is doing well. She is adjusting, although it's obvious she misses her babies. How could she not? They brought her joy, purpose, and so much love every single day. We'll give her a little extra attention over the coming weeks until she feels completely like herself again.
Fly high, little Dragonflies. You will always have a piece of our hearts.

One last thought:
A Promise for my puppies
It was my choice to bring you into this world,
and from that very first breath, you became part of my heart.
It is my promise to always care about you,
no matter where life takes you or whose lap you sleep in.
A little piece of my heart will always belong to you,
just as a little piece of yours will always stay with me.
So, dear family, every now and then,
please send me a little message, a photo, or a story.
That way I can watch them grow, smile when they are happy, and quietly keep the promise I made the day they were born:
to love them for all the days of their life.

Week 7 – Growing Up
For videos about the Dragonfly Litter follow these links: Dragonfly Litter with the Sunnyside 'girls' in the dog pen, White Swiss Shepherd Dragonfly Litter 7 weeks old car ride, Two puppies (Gini & Luna) of the Dragonfly Litter have their first 'bath'
Week 7 was another exciting milestone for the Dragonfly puppies. They experienced their very first car rides. Like most puppies, they were curious, a little unsure, and certainly impressed by this new adventure. But overall, they handled it beautifully.
They also visited the veterinarian for their first DHPP vaccination, microchip implantation, and complete health examination. We couldn't have been happier with the results. The veterinarian was extremely pleased with every puppy. They were strong, healthy, beautifully pigmented, and everything was exactly where it should be. Eyes, ears, hearts, joints, teeth, and yes—even Jace's testicles—everything was perfect.
Back at home, another big change took place. The whelping pen was finally packed away, and the puppies enjoyed much more freedom around the house. At night they were still safely gated, with a crate available if they chose to sleep in it.
Every day they were gently handled, introduced to new toys, and exposed to new experiences. One of their favorite activities was playing with Sien and having joyful zoomies around the garden with Mama Jane.
They also started practicing one of life's most important skills: walking on a leash. Every puppy had individual leash walks each day, followed by fun off-leash adventures together as a group.
Jane gradually began weaning them. By the end, the puppies only nursed very briefly around 3:00 in the morning. Before leaving for their new homes, they had all transitioned completely to dry kibble.

What happend
A lot have been going on last two weeks. We had a couple of puppy visits from the future owners of these puppies, but also my friend and her two youngest kids took the time to come over and play and cuddle with the puppies. The puppies living area has been extended, whelping box is put away, a small crate has been added and outside walks extended. However we had a couple of very warm days and so only early morning and late in the evening we took the time to go out. But now it cooled of and it even rains, so we can go outside a little more. The puppies walked on leash, are eating soaked and not soaked kibble. Although they also still sneak under mama to get some nice and warm milk. Jane is a wonderful mama, still taking care of their daily cleaning. The puppies also are becoming more vocal, letting me know that they don't like to be 'locked up' behind baby gates. But during the night they have to, so it takes them like 1-2 minutes every night to get settled and get to sleep. They also sleeping longer during the night, maybe waking up once or twice. So that's a good sign.

- Miss Pink will go to the breeder Jennifer, her name will be Nadia and her pedigree name is of course "DoubleUp Wynter Spirit". Nadia will be added to the breeding program of Jennifer, and I am very happy that this Mojo's & Jane's bloodlines will be continued here in the USA.
- Miss Purple will be moving to Northern Virginia and her pedigree name is DejaVu Virginia, calling name is Gini.
- Miss Orange, our short coat female will move to Georgia, and her name is Dearest Secret Opaline, calling name Luna.
- And of course pedigree name and calling name for our only boy Mr. Aqua were already revealed: Don Juan I kid you not, calling name Jace.
Coming week
we will walk more outside (on leash), hope to have my friends kids over again for a walk and we also will start car rides because coming week or beginning of the following week, puppies will go to the vet for their first vaccination shots, to be microchipped and getting their health checked before they are going to their forever homes.

Pedigree names revealed.
It’s always hard to find the right pedigree names — names that somehow capture who these puppies already are, while still fitting the litter theme, this time the Dragonfly litter… and of course all starting with the letter D. But after a lot of thinking, doubting, and smiling at certain names, the decision has finally been made.

But after a lot of thinking, doubting, and smiling at certain names, the decision has finally been made.
At this point it's not decided to which family, which girl goes. However their pedigree names are ready for me to reveal:
DejaVu Virginia
This name represents a puppy with a soul that feels instantly familiar — deeply connected to a place, a moment, and a feeling of home. For me it's a name about memory, belonging, and quiet emotional connection, wrapped in the transformation and nostalgia of a changing chapter in life. 🪽
DoubleUp Wynter Spirit
This puppy will go to Jennifer Spencer, stud owner of Plavi and breeder of Jane. Jennifer wants to continue the wonderful Anya, Mojo & Plavi bloodlines with her kennel Wynter Spirit Kennels.
This name represents a puppy from quiet beginnings, a spirit rises—shaped by intention, guided by balance. Like the dragonfly, moving between worlds with precision and grace, this new generation carries the Wynter Spirit twice, refined into clarity, connection, and purpose.
Dearest Secret Opaline
I always wanted to give one of my female puppies the name Opaline. This pedigree name is for a puppy with a cherished and quietly radiant soul, whose true beauty and depth reveal themselves in subtle, ever-changing light.
Saturday May 9 — already 4 weeks old! 🐾
Time really flies with these little Dragonflies. All puppies are growing beautifully and are now close to 3 kilos already. I no longer weigh them every day — the scale is getting too small anyway, and more importantly, I can clearly see they are thriving.
Around 3 weeks old we finished ENS and ESI, but daily handling continues. These puppies truly enjoy contact and cuddles, both from humans and from the other dogs. Sien, now one year old, has started gently “playing” with them and it is lovely to watch.
Walking & playing is with confidence these days. Eyes and ears are open and doing their job. Three out of four are really long coated and Miss Orange will be short or medium coated.
The puppy pen has expanded again, now even reaching around and under my desk, so the puppies are more and more part of daily life. Another big milestone: they have started eating “mush mush” (blended soaked kibble) several times a day. Normally I start this around 4 weeks, but with those sharp little teeth I could see mama Jane was becoming less comfortable nursing. For now they still enjoy both mama’s milk and their mush mush — the best of both worlds. And surprisingly, they are very tidy eaters so far. Hardly any stepping into the food at all!

Other little updates:
- puppy pads were introduced for different textures and early potty-area awareness;
- introduction of the puppy gym (had to buy a new one, bc the second hand old one was 'destroyed' by the previous litter:-)))
- new toys appear daily, helping them explore unfamiliar objects with confidence;
- they are learning to sleep in different places, around people and normal household activity;
- the vacuum cleaner is regularly on around them and they barely react;
- occasionally they hear low-volume desensitizing sounds like thunder, fireworks, barking dogs, doorbells and city noises — so far, no worries at all;
- yesterday they went outside for the very first time, together with mama Jane. They did wonderfully.
Saturday April 25, two weeks old🐾
Two weeks in, and our Dragonfly Litter is quietly transforming right before our eyes.
This stage always feels like watching the world gently switch on. The puppies are growing beautifully—stronger, fuller, more present each day. Their eyes are beginning to open, offering those first glimpses of awareness, and their ears will likely follow soon. Little by little, they are moving out of the purely instinctive newborn phase and into a more connected, responsive stage.
They still sleep a lot (as they should—this is when the real growth happens), but their awake moments are becoming more meaningful. When they are up, we’re seeing the first soft interactions: gentle nudges toward each other, tiny play attempts, and the beginning of true social awareness within the litter.
Movement is changing too. What started as crawling is now turning into those adorable wobbly steps. They “walk” more and more each day—unsteady, determined, and completely endearing. You can almost see their confidence building with every attempt.
Behind the scenes, we continue our daily ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction)—quiet but powerful building blocks for resilience, adaptability, and confidence later in life.
Alongside this, we do daily handling exercises, gently introducing each puppy to being touched everywhere on their body: nose, mouth, ears, back, belly, paws, and tail. This may seem simple, but it is incredibly important. It teaches them early on that human touch is safe, predictable, and nothing to worry about—no matter where or how they are handled. These small, consistent moments create dogs that are easier to care for, more relaxed at the vet or groomer, and more trusting in their relationship with humans.
We’ve also already clipped the toenails on the front paws twice to keep things comfortable for mama Jane while they nurse. The hind paws we are leaving for now—they need that grip to help them stabilize and move as they develop.
For those who want to follow along more closely, I’ve been sharing little glimpses of their development on YouTube (ENS/ESI & other) —capturing these early stages as they unfold day by day.
And of course, Jane continues to be exactly who she is: calm, devoted, and steady. She takes beautiful care of her puppies, giving them the perfect foundation from the very start.
It’s still a quiet phase—but not for long. The next weeks will bring more awareness, more interaction, more personality. For now, we enjoy this soft in-between moment… where everything is just beginning. 🐾

Friday April 17, Dragonfly Litter – 1 week old 🐾
One week in… and our 3 little girls and 1 boy are growing quietly and beautifully.
They sleep, drink, and gently crawl through their tiny world—exactly as they should. Their dark pigment is coming in more each day, little noses and paw pads turning richer and stronger.
We’ve started their early journey with ENS & ESI, see Youtube, introducing scents like nutmeg, clover, and curry—small moments that shape confident, curious minds.
And sweet Mama Jane… calm, devoted, and taking such good care of her babies 🤍

Let me introduce to you: Miss Pink, Miss Orange, Miss Purple & Mr. Aqua (without a collar)
April 11, 2026
The puppies have arrived! Born yesterday April 10, 2026. One boy and 3 girls. The first puppy, Miss Pink was born at 8:30am and the last puppy, Miss Purple was born 6pm.
It was a very long and emotional day for all of us. I had to take Jane to the vet because she stopped having contractions after 3 puppies and I wanted to know if there were any other puppies left in her belly and if so, if there were complications. There were 2 puppies left, both heart beats strong as they ever could be. So finally Miss Purple was born 6pm (12 hours after the first) alive and kicking. But the last puppy, also a girl, was born this morning and it was too late for her. She didn’t make it.
Jane is doing great and she’s a wonderful mama. Keeping a close eye on her puppies and making sure that they get enough milk. This morning I weighted them all and they all gained weight! So I am very happy with that. These first couple of weeks we monitor their weight daily to make sure that they stay healthy.

April 8, 2026 Jane is showing signs that the puppies are preparing to meet their mother. Over the past two days, she has been panting more frequently, and since this morning, she appears even more uncomfortable. She is constantly looking at me and seeking my comfort and attention, which I of course provide.
|
|
April 3, 2026 Jane is still getting bigger and bigger. I sometimes can see her puppies move. Every day I listen with my stethoscope for little heart beats, and sometimes I do think I hear the puppies 'bark' already:-) But that's probably 'wishful thinking'. Anyway we set up the whelping pen an you might think it's too small for BIG Jane, it will fit just perfect. The picture is a little bit out of focus.
And like with all previous litters, again Venture (the stuffed dog named after our first puppy) will be the hugging and comforting buddy for the new puppies. |
|
Tuesday March 31, 2026
Nine days to go. Jane is getting heavy, she is panting more because of the puppies moving in her belly, But she is still playing ball (no jumping!!! & slower than normal). Jane is getting more food now that the puppies grow, grow and grow. She loves attention, even more than normal and is glued to my side. Tomorrow Martijn & I will set up the puppy whelping box and rearrange our living space, so that Jane can get used to her new sleeping quarters. |

March 10, 2026
Jane's belly seems to be growing, and she shows early signs of pregnancy like morning sickness and less appetite; two things she NEVER had before. I am pretty confident that she is pregnant however with Jessie I have been wrong a couple of times, so time for Jane to have an ultrasound. Jane is pregnant!!! So happy! We saw at least 4 puppies, but there can be more hiding from us. It's such a wonderful experience to see those little embryos/fetuses 'swimming' around. |

In the first week of February 2026, Jane was in heat, prompting me to begin progesterone measurements. After three measurements, on Saturday, February 7th, her level reached 15ng. I promptly contacted Plavi’s owner, Jennifer, who, along with Plavi, visited us on Sunday to assess the possibility of breeding them. Although Plavi seemed quite interested, Jane was not enthusiastic about the idea.
On Monday, I conducted another progesterone test, and Jennifer and I decided to schedule an artificial insemination (AI) appointment with her reproductive veterinarian, who was located in Richmond. The following morning, Jane, Jessie (who always makes for a pleasant companion during long car rides), and I set off at 6 am and arrived a bit over 8 am. We underwent another progesterone test and other necessary procedures, and it was confirmed that Jane was still capable of breeding, but her window of opportunity was rapidly closing. An hour later, Plavi arrived, and the veterinarian performed the AI procedure. Now, all we had to do was patiently wait and see if Jane became pregnant. |
