Evie is settling in at The Sunnyside Sisters Bed and Breakfast. Walks on leash are mostly together with Jessie, basics like sit, up, look, find (treats) she already does well. This week we start with loose leash walks, down and stay. She has seldom accidents in the house, but I walk her 6-7 times a day. She sleeps through the night. We offer her plenty of rest and structure because she was over-stimulated big time.
She still jumps a lot, so that is something we work on all the time. We basically let her know by ignoring, stopping with what we are doing, having her sit down, etc that jumping up is getting her nowhere. Hand biting, especially during leashing her, she learns that that is not ok. Basically I redirect her attention by offering treats and meanwhile leash her. This way she learns to associate leashing with something good, the treats. We also try to move our hands very slow around her. And I pet her very gentle as much as I can. And it works. She is biting or grabbing less and less (in) our hands. You see with a puppy there is never a dull moment:-))
