In the ‘about’ section I write that I grew up with dogs however all my photo’s were still in boxes, I only now have the time to digitalize them and put them on my website.
When I was born in 1970 my parents already had a mutt, Pucky (‘shorty’) She wasn’t really trained and she used to roam the garbage cans during the night (when she was able to sneak out that is). So she was pretty fat. Then when I was four we got Sita, a beautiful and easygoing Bouvier de Flandres. We got her from friends who decided to breed one litter with their dogs. Just before I turned 14 we had to say goodbye to Sita. Pucky had already passed, when she caught a cold sneaking out in the freezing cold and got stuck in a rabbit hole or something like that. Sita died of ovariun cancer. I was heartbroken and I still remember going downstairs the night before her passing and lay next to her, comforting her. She was such a beautiful and loving dog. After that my dad bought another Bouvier, however she, Laika, was more of a mix with another unknown breed. She was pretty challenging, very bad on the recall for exemple. We used to live opposite of a park and when it was time to go back home, Laika wasn’t having it. So we left her, went home and looked through the window and when she had enough of playing and was looking around her to see where we were, we went to get her. She had epilepsy, sometimes for almost half an hour. But she lived with it, without medication. What did we know? She died when she was almost 12 years. And then came Tessa, again a Bouvier but she came from a breeder close by. She was a beautiful, big dog and she was also sooooo sweet. She stayed with us a couple of times when my parents went to Mexico visiting my brother and his family. She found our dog Mullet annoying because by the time we got him, Tessa was already older. When she died, 13 years, my parents stopped getting another bouvier because they were already in their 70’s. They now have a Dutch Kooyker Hondje, Odie, this month also 13 years old. He’s again a super sweetheart, he was Mullets best friend and Mojo loved him. He was stolen and after two months found again, so he’s extra special. So yes, i grew up with dogs (and other animals) and I’ve always been in love with them.
